The girls finish their regular season on the road tonight as they face D1 Shrewsbury. Auburn is the clear leader in SWCL, 14-1 (15-1-1 overall), and they should have great seeding in the upcoming MIAA Tournament. Except for a stumble early in the season when they lost to Millbury 5-0, the Rockets have been scoring points and achieving wins.

In the rematch against Millbury on October 15th, the Rockets recorded a 2-1 victory as Colleen Cutting shut down the Woolies’ Kelsie Cummings. This same strategy worked against Northbridge during the Homecoming game. When asked about her new role that certainly takes her out of the limelight, Cutting said, “I still get to participate in corner kicks which is one of my favorite parts of the game. I also like messing with people.” And “messing” she has done well.

On Friday night, the Rockets got their 15th win and keeper Sarah Fahey earned her second shutout of the season with 6 saves. Quaboag fell 4-0 on two goals by Jianna Baroni and one each by Jenna Matthews and Megan Gurlitz. Baroni is at the top of the SWCL leaders, and she may well take that prize.

We will keep our readers apprised of the playoff schedules and results. Good luck Ladies!
