Auburn Passes Forward the Challenge

The lack of a Town Manager did not stop the Town of Oxford’s Management Team from challenging Auburn Town Manager Julie Jacobson to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Jacobson called a few of her department heads after hours to see if they might be interested. The response was enthusiastic.

On Tuesday, after the workday was over, about 25 employees gathered behind the Drury Square fire station. They filled their buckets, dumped in some ice and headed to the rocket. In a progressive dousing, Fire Chief Steve Coleman went first and it went down the line and ended with Assistant Chief Glenn Johnson. Then, it was Jacobson’s turn. A very large bucket hoisted by firefighters Adam LaFlash and Chris Pierce was poured over our town’s manager.

Nearly every town department was represented, and several police and fire officers came in off duty to participate. Although everyone was a little damp after the contest, they were smiling and enjoyed the event. Jacobson has challenged the School District Administration and Principals in Auburn as well as the town management team in Leicester.
