Conservation Committee Seeks Volunteer Members

by | Aug 18, 2014

The Town of Auburn Conservation Commission has two openings.  According to Town Manager Julie Jacobson, some qualifications that would be useful for this committee include:

Ability to read regulations and assess applications for compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations
Ability to review applications objectively
Ability to treat all applicants with respect, fairness and consistency
Availability to participate in site visits, preparation prior to meetings

Qualifications that may be useful, but not required:

Work or educational background in environmental science, engineering, resource management, natural sciences, construction.

Mostly, according to Jacobson, the town is looking for candidates with enthusiasm, and who will be a good fit for the committee.  Most board members are not experts when they begin, she says, but learn as they go.
