Suspected Auburn Home Burglar Nabbed in Shrewsbury

by | Aug 4, 2014

A burglar suspected of breaking into several homes along the Millbury-Auburn line the weekend of July 12 was nabbed by Shrewsbury PD Friday.

According to an Auburn homeowner who was a victim of a break in back on July 12 or 13th, they were contacted by an Auburn Police detective over the weekend to come an attempt to identify pieces of jewelry that were in the suspect’s possession.  In addition, police recovered the 12 week old (at the time of the theft) Coton de Tulear puppy, Katie, and reunited her with her Millbury family.

In the meantime, more break-ins have been reported in Auburn, again through open doors or windows.  These breaks are occurring during daytime hours, overnight while homeowners sleep inside, and in homes with dogs – sometimes large ones.

Police officials encourage homeowners to use common sense deterrents; lock doors and windows at night and when leaving the home, even for a short time.  Leave outside lights on if possible. Report anything suspicious by dialing 9-1-1.  If something seems off, trust your instincts and call police.

Auburn Mass Daily has several calls in to authorities for information.  We hope to provide more in depth coverage early this week.
