Auburn High School Theatre will be performing the musical ‘Chicago: High School Edition’ next weekend, and it looks like another TAMY-nominated hit. While modified from the original, the show is still only appropriate for a PG-13 audience.

In roaring twenties Chicago, chorus girl Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap…until he finds out he’s been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “Merry Murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the “American Dream”: fame, fortune, and acquittal. Infamously choreographed by the legendary Bob Fosse, this musical theatre classic is guaranteed to thrill!

Principle characters are Angelique Davis as Velma Kelly, Madison Poshkus as Roxie Hart, Derek Brigham as attorney Billy Flynn, Olivia Curnen as Matron Mama Morton, and Sean Angus Campbell as Amos Hart. Colin Cunningham plays Fred Casely, and Kyle Rano fills the role of the Judge.

There is great music, fantastic dancing and some accomplished acting to make Chicago a fun experience. Nick LaPete directs; Virginia Bailey is the musical director; and Bethany Paradis is the dance captain.
