Life Care Center of Auburn recently awarded youth volunteer of the year to Keith Roycewicz of Auburn.
During a celebration in Keith’s honor, Senator Mike Moore and Representative Paul Frost both spoke to Keith’s achievements and the impact of youth volunteers. A room filled with family and friends were on hand to congratulate Keith and see him awarded with Citations, plaques and a check for his future education.
Tracy Colangelo, Activities Director, originally nominated Keith for the award at the facility level. Upon winning for the Auburn facility his nomination went to the divisional level. Keith was overall winner for Life Care Center of America’s Northeast Division. According to Tracy
“Keith has shown maturity, dedication, compassion and understanding towards the residents here. I love that he is always encouraging other students to volunteer here”.
Joanne Bruell, Executive Director, read a letter to Keith from Life Care Centers President, Beecher Hunter. Joanne then spoke about Keith’s dedication to volunteering outside the school activity program before presenting him with a check.
“Keith has been a volunteer for over 3 years initially starting with the school next door” according to Joanne. “Even after the school program ended for the year Keith continued to volunteer on his own time”.
Zo Long, Divisional Vice President for Life Care Centers of America was able to attend the celebration as well as other corporate team members. Presenting the divisional award to Keith Zo spoke about receiving the nomination.
“I knew right away that this young man was deserving of this award. I was very impressed with his devotion to our residents and wanted to be here to meet him myself”.
When Keith took the opportunity to thank everyone for attending he let it be known that Life Care provided a place for him to be himself. He considered Life Care to be a judge free zone. He overcame difficult challenges both socially and academically and always felt welcome when at Life Care.
In closing the event Carrie Cross, Marketing Director for the Auburn facility, told Keith he is always welcome at Life Care. “Keith is being honored today but in reality it is us who are honored to know him. Keith lights up a room the minute he enters it with his smile. I hope he continues to do so wherever life may take him”.
