Auburn High boys soccer had a great season and came into the tournament with a 14-3-1 record. The Rockets were ranked #3 behind Hudson and Nipmuc and defeated #14 Bay Path 1-0 in the first round. In the quarter final, Auburn beat Northbridge 1-0, but they fell to Hudson 2-1 in the semi-final.

One of the special moments of the year occurred on September 24th when they hosted Quaboag. Prior to the start, Auburn Honored Christian Joseph Congelos, the former Cougar goalie who was one of three Quaboag students tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident in November of 2017.

Christian’s former teammates all wore jerseys with his #3 and nickname “Congo.” His mother was present to share inthe ceremony, and 2017 captains Parker Plona and Billy Wright came home from college to participate.

It’s nice to see boys soccer doing a bit better each year, and 2019 looks to be great.
