Sigmund T. “Ziggy” Sliwowski, 91 of Auburn, passed away on Friday October 5, 2018 after an unexpected illness and a short hospital stay.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gloria M. (Sampson) Sliwowski and his three children, Mary Sliwowski with whom he lived, Ann Sliwowski of Auburn and Thomas Sliwowski of South Grafton; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Ziggy was born and raised in Worcester son of the late Thomas and Mary (Wojna) Sliwowski. He graduated from Saint Mary’s Grammar School and High School and later from Becker College. He served his country proudly with the United States Army in Counter Intelligence and belonged to CIC Group.

He retired from Morgan Construction Company where he worked as an inspector. Ziggy was a pigeon fancier and raised Russian Tumblers for most of his life. He founded the National Russian Tumblers Club. He enjoyed being with his family and for many years raised a large garden, and tended to his many grape vines and fruit trees on his property.

The Sliwowski family would like to thank the nursing staff at Saint Vincent Hospital and Beacon Hospice for the compassionate care Ziggy received during his illness.
