The mission of Auburn Youth and Family Services (AYFS) food pantry program is to help alleviate hunger for Auburn’s children and families, as well as to educate families about the importance of good nutrition. This corresponds to our overall mission to “promote the healthy development of youth and families in Auburn”.

AYFS provides assistance with gifts and food baskets to any family in Auburn who fills out an application. In 2017, 491 people received food from the food bank bi-weekly. At Easter, the Food Bank served 93 families up from 70 families. At Thanksgiving, 159 families up from 132, and at Christmas, 166 families up from 142. AYFS is always in need of food donations. While the community is very generous during the winter and holiday months, the Food Bank service is provided all through the year.

AYFS is also on the lookout for gently used clothing. Seasonal men’s, women’s, and infant clothing are needed, as well as shoes, coats, hats, gloves, and scarves.

The mission of Kateri’s Kitchen is to recognize the fact, that in today’s world, there are many who are in need of the basics for every day survival, Kateri’s Kitchen was formed in an attempt to meet some of these needs. Kateri’s Kitchen is considered an “emergency kitchen” providing food for 3 day to those who are in need. Kateri’s Kitchen is open every Saturday from 10 – 12 to serve area families or individuals in need of assistance.

Parishioners from North American Martyrs’ Church and others help to stock our shelves, by donating food items. Donations may be placed in the basket at the offertory part of the Mass or
left in the classroom at the back of the church. Approximately 250 to 275 individuals per month, within the greater Auburn
community, are given food assistance. The total of individuals for 2017 were 3,128.
