Auburn’s annual town election will be held on Tuesday, May 15 at the Auburn High School, 99 Auburn St. Polls will remain open from 8am to 8pm on Tuesday.

Voters will be asked to decide six races: Library Trustees; Town Moderator; two seats on the School Committee; two seats on the Board of Selectmen; Town Clerk; and Town Meeting representatives.

Only two town-wide races are contested. There are four candidates vying for two seats on the School Committee. George Scobie is seeking re-election. He is joined on the ballot by newcomers Mary K. DeCourcey, Meghan P. McCrillis and Erika K. Sullivan. Profiles of these candidates will appear in the Monday, May 14 edition of Auburn Mass Daily.

There are three candidates seeking the two Board of Selectmen positions. Current Board of Selectman Chairwoman, Doreen Goodrich, is seeking reelection. Ken Holstrom, the current BOS Vice Chairman, is seeking his third term as Selectman. Also running is Wayne Page. A current School Committee member, Page is running for BOS instead seeking re-election to the School Committee. Selectman candidate profiles will appear on Auburn Mass Daily Thursday, May 10.

For Town Meeting representatives, voters in each of Auburn’s five voting precincts will vote for eight candidates. Each precinct has a different ballot reflecting that precinct’s TMM candidates.

In Precinct 1, there are nine candidates – including eight incumbents – running for the eight available Town Meeting Member seats. Precinct two sees eight TMM candidates. In Precinct 3, only six candidates are on the ballot for the eight openings. In Precinct 4, there are seven candidates, and in Precinct 5 there are eight candidates.

Voters may choose to write in a TMM candidate, as long as that candidate is a resident of that precinct. Historically, just a handful of write-in votes have been adequate to win an uncontested TMM seat.

In the uncontested races, Ellen Ganley and Nan Johnson are seeking re-election to the Library Trustees, Chet Stencel is seeking reelection as Town Moderator, and Debra Gremo seeks reelection as Town Clerk.

Voters may preview the ballot for their precinct at  The links to the ballots can be found about halfway down the page under ‘Annual Town Election Ballot.’
