Henry J. “Hank” Toboyko, 90 of Auburn, a long time mechanical draftsman and Army Veteran of World War II and Korea, died peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Hospital after a short illness surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves his beloved wife and best friend of 61 years Barbara (Lilla) Toboyko, three daughters, Patricia Danshire and her husband Richard of Marlboro, Donna Toboyko of Orlando, FL, and Linda Babraitis and her husband Robert of Leicester, two granddaughters May and Christine Babraitis, and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Sigmond Toboika, Stanley Toboika and Louis Toboyko, his sisters Sophie Koskie and Mary Toboika.
He was born in Worcester, son of the late Stanislaus and Anna (Florkowska) Toboika, where he lived until he moved to Auburn 59 years ago. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School, and attended Clark University and Worcester State College. Hank was a mechanical draftsman for David Clark Co., Inc. from where he retired in 1992. He previously worked for Heald Machine Co. and was the owner operator of Henry’s Drafting Service in Auburn. He was a licensed Real Estate salesperson and served as a Town Meeting Member in Auburn.
He was a World War II veteran serving in Italy and a Korean War Veteran serving as a Staff Sergeant. Hank was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, the Chester P. Tuttle Post 279, American Legion, and the Singletary Rod & Gun Club. He especially enjoyed spending and sharing the good times with his family.
He was an avid gardener, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He was a passionate story teller, especially when sharing of his experiences while serving in the military. In addition to his love of music, he was an outstanding athlete who played basketball and softball with the Worcester Industrial League. He was an all-star end in the Fort Devens touch football league and played in the 1st Army touch football championships. He also coached the St. Joseph’s CYC Boys softball team.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Hank’s funeral Mass on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street N, Auburn. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
