Alice Rea was honored as the 2017 John E. and Ethel E. Riley Outstanding Citizenship Award recipient at the annual Thanksgiving Ecumenical Service on November 22.

Alice is an elected member of the Auburn Housing Authority. She has previously served as a Town Meeting Member, a member of the Community Emergency Response Team, a member of the Board of Health and has been a Commissioner on the Board of the Auburn Housing Authority since 2005.

Several years ago Alice helped to make the film “Are you Ok?” to show to the elderly citizens during educational programs at the Senior Center.  She is a retired nurse, she has dedicated her life to help educate Auburn’s citizen’s on how to be safe and healthy.


The John E. & Ethel E. Riley Outstanding Citizenship Award was created in 1976 to honor the Riley’s for their contribution to serving and making life for Auburn Citizens better. John served as the Town Clerk from 1922 to 1975 and Ethel served as an Assistant for many years. There was money donated that is now held by the Greater Worcester Community Foundation. The interest earned is given to the recipient chosen each year.
