Barry A. Freelander, 77, of Auburn, died Wednesday November 22, 2017 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence surrounded by his loving family.
Barry was born in Worcester son of the late Jacob and Adeline (Saltzman) Freelander. He graduated from Highlands High School in California.
He leaves his wife and best friend of 41 years, Judith A. (Reynolds) Freelander, two children, Jack E. Freelander of Seattle, WA and Jennifer A. Girardi and her husband Christian of Shrewsbury; two grandchildren Emma and Michael Girardi; a brother, Joel Freelander and his wife Riva of Chapel Hill, NC; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Barry had worked as a pressman for the Woodbury Company for many years and as a security officer for Astra Zeneca before he retired. He also found time to be a soccer referee.
He was a dedicated husband and father who loved being around his family, especially his grandchildren. Barry enjoyed country music, line dancing, karaoke, the Patriots, Red Sox and the Bruins. A fiercely patriotic man with an affection for dogs and was passionate about classic cars.
Funeral services and burial for Barry will be held privately. Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn is directing arrangements. Memorial donations may be set to American Heart Association 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451 (www.heart.org) .
