After three games on the road to start their season, the Rockets finally got to play at home. Two away games were 3-0 losses to powerful Grafton and Westborough teams, so a few easier contests on Memorial Field were appreciated. Senior Brianna Leon and junior Victoria Murphy are captains this year, and the new head coach is Emily Para. Eric Berg is the assistant.
The girls captured their third victory last night when they bested Oxford 3-0 after goals by Murphy, Julia Lussier and Olivia Mathews. Monday’s 6-0 win over David Prouty was the first home game, and it wasn’t much of a matchup.
Lussier scored 10 minutes in, and Murphy followed 5 minutes later with an assist by Mathews. In less than 2 minutes, Jackie Landry earned a goal unassisted, and at 35:45 Mathews would score her own unassisted goal. Right before the end of the first half, Murphy scored again to give Auburn a 5-0 lead.
The second half was more of a practice than a game for the Rockets, and the starters weren’t on the field for the most part. The only score came at 38:00 when Haley Norris scored with a Murphy assist.
Monday was a bright overcast day which is perfect for photography, and it was a great opportunity to put together a slide show that shows a lot of players.
