Auburn High School launched a successful junior varsity lacrosse program in the spring of 2016. This year, both the boys’ and the girls’ programs moved up to varsity, and both played their first varsity games on Saturday, April 8. Both teams faced the traditionally strong Northbridge High School Rams.
In the early matchup, the girls managed to hold off the Rams, securing a 13-11 victory over the visiting Rams. Alexis McGrail and Julianna Martinelli each notched four goals, while Shea Jarvis scored two for the Rockets.
In the second game, the boys laxers struggled against an experienced Northbridge squad. Trailing the entire matchup, Auburn was down 11-3 at one point, but found some footing and charged back. Ultimately, time was not on the Rockets’ side, and they fell to Northbridge 13-7.
Unfortunately, we did not have a photographer available for the girls’ game, but here are some images from the boys. We’ll be sure to catch up with the girls more through this exciting first varsity season.
