Nicholas Bonzey recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Bonzey, a member of Troop 121, has been involved with scouting for over 10 years, beginning as a Cub Scout in the first grade.
In order to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, Bonzey had to complete a rigorous curriculum, demonstrating mastery of a variety of skills. He also had to propose and complete a community service project. Bonzey worked with Kateri’s Kitchen based at North American Martyr’s Church. Over the course of the year, Bonzey held a food drive as well as working on numerous repairs and improvements at Kateri’s.
“We did some painting, minor repairs and sealed all the doors” said Bonzey of his project.
The most important thing he has taken away from his years of scouting? “Leadership skills,” Bonzey replied without hesitation.
At the time of this interview, Bonzey was a senior at Auburn High School. By the time you read this, he will be an AHS alumni, class of 2016. He also played soccer and track for Auburn during his high school career.
Bonzey will be attending the Wentworth Institute of Technology this fall, studying construction management. He is the son of John and Deborah Bonzey, and the grandson of David & Anita Powell and Ronald & Barbara Bonzey, all of Auburn.
