Jeff Williams, an Auburn resident and the Executive Chef at CHOPPS American Bar and Grill in Burlington recently won Catholic Charities’ Hunger Chopped event that took place at The Kitchen at Boston Public Market.
The event was designed to raise awareness for hunger in the community as well as Catholic Charities’ anti-hunger campaign, ‘Friends Feeding Families.’ Modeled after Food Network Channel’s show Chopped, ‘Hunger Chopped’ was a cook-off in which two local chefs had 30 minutes to create a nutritious dish by using only ingredients typically found in a Catholic Charities food pantry, along with a selection of produce from the vendors at The Boston Public Market.
Williams, a Philadelphia native, developed a love for cooking at a very young age. He attended Baltimore International College where he studied French culinary teachniques. He started his professional career at Willard Intercontinental in Washington, D.C., and has moved up the line at premier restaurants such as STK West Hollywood, Crescent Hotel, Culver Hotel, and Westin Bonaventure. He returned to the East Coast in 2015 to take the Executive Chef position at CHOPPS in Burlington, MA.
