On Saturday, February 20, 2016, a group of students from the Swanson Road Intermediate School Robotics Club competed in the Southern New England Regional VEX IQ Challenge Bank Shot Championship at Quinsigamond Community College. These students worked tremendously hard and one team won the Excellence Award.
According to Principal Susan Lopez, “The Excellence Award is the highest award presented in the VEX IQ Challenge, and the recipient of this award is the team that best exemplifies overall excellence in creating a well-rounded VEX IQ program. This team showed collaboration and excels in teamwork. As a strong contender in numerous award categories, the SWIS team was recognized for building a quality robot, delivering an effective STEM Research Project presentation, submitting a well-documented engineering notebook, and demonstrating that their team is committed to excellence in everything that they did.”
The team is coached by Christine Lloyd and has members Isabella Doyle, Trevor Smith, Quinn Cahill, and Anthony Lloyd, and they have been invited to attend the Vex Robotics World Championship 2016, in Louisville, Kentucky on April 20-23rd.
In order to travel as a team, they will be fundraising in order to ensure each child is afforded this once in a lifetime opportunity. Donations to support these talented students can be made through, https://www.youcaring.com/swanson-road-intermediate-school-robotics-team-532557.
Please consider supporting these students as they represent Auburn, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and Southern New England in this prestigious world event.
