The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Central Massachusetts effective 1am Friday through 3pm on Friday. 3-6 inches of wet, heavy snow is expected.

The timing of the storm brings the heaviest snowfall during the morning hours, around the morning commute. Snow will taper off around midday.

Isolated power outages are possible with this storm, especially in areas that see 4+ inches as this may cause downed branches and power lines.

The storm system had been forecast to pass to the southeast, grazing coastal Massachusetts, the Cape and Islands. A change in the track over the past 12 hours brings the storm closer, meaning higher totals in our area. Boston and metro areas are expected to receive higher amounts, in the 6+ inches range.

Another storm system is tracking our way for Monday night into Tuesday of next week.  Early indications show anywhere from 2-6 inches of snow from that system, but that may well change.

Auburn Mass Daily will pass along any weather-related cancellations or delays we receive.
