During the SWCL League Championship Meet on January 27th, the Auburn girls came in second, and the boys came in third. The highlight of the meet was when sophomore Sarah Cavanaugh beat the SWCL record for the 2-mile run by 18 seconds. Her time as 11 minutes and 30 seconds, and she ran the same time at the District Meet on Saturday.

Cavanaugh made both these runs on flat high school tracks, and it will be interesting to see her results at States on Friday night when she will be racing on the pitched track at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. After the SWCL Meet, she told Auburn Mass Daily, “It’s exciting. I wanted to prove I was back from my injury.” And, that she did.
