AUBURN- Anne “Yvonne” Dearden, 97, of Auburn, died Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the Life Care Center of Auburn surrounded by her loving family.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, William S. “Stan” Dearden, her loving son, William S. Dearden, Jr., her son-in-law, Dennis F. Wrenn, and her son-in-law, Dennis F. Spinner.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Jean Baptiste and Emma P. (Dore) Hevey, she lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven until 8 years ago when she and her son moved to Auburn to live with her daughter, Elizabeth Johnson.

A graduate of Holy Family High School, New Bedford in 1937, she was a strong young woman who faced life’s challenges with courage. She bestowed upon her family a lifetime of love, loyalty, and devotion. She wanted the best for and expected the best from her family and offered an inspiring example to follow. Whatever her family needed, she would try to find a way to meet it. During World War II, as a young bride, she maintained correspondence with her husband each and every day throughout his tour of duty. After the war, the young couple created a warm and loving home where they welcomed and cherished each of their 3 children, as well as their extended family including many good friends. Earlier in her life, she enjoyed walking as her favorite mode of transportation, and throughout the years she enjoyed knitting and sewing for her children and grandchildren, reading, participating in a group of friends who called themselves “the Dreamers of ’68”, joining friends for Friday night dinner at the Cathay Temple, and doing endless crossword puzzles. She was dearly loved by her family and will be sorely missed.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Elizabeth D. Johnson of Auburn, MA and Margaret A. Spinner of Boxborough, MA. She also leaves 5 grandchildren: Jessica Wrenn, Elizabeth Nichols, Scott Wrenn and his wife, Brooke, Karen Spinner and her husband, James, and Kevin Spinner and his wife Sarvenaz; and 8 great-grandchildren: Wyatt Lyons, Travis Nichols, John Nichols, Madison Wrenn, Kennedy Wrenn, Molly Isbell, Hunter Isbell, and Sienna Spinner.
