kennedySUTTON – William C. Kennedy, Jr, 71, of Sutton, formerly of Auburn and Worcester, passed away on Saturday, October 31st at UMass-Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born and raised in Leicester, son of the late William C. Kennedy, Sr. and Elizabeth (Reilly) Kennedy.

Bill leaves a sister, Joan Anderson and her husband Stu, and four brothers, Michael Kennedy and his wife Donna, Joseph Kennedy and his wife Diane, Charles Patrick Kennedy, and Stephen Kennedy and his wife Kim.

He also leaves two children, Kevin Kennedy and his wife Amy, and Caitlin Foley and her husband Jason. He leaves seven grandchildren, Declan, Owen, Colin and Ella Kennedy and Nora, Clare and Maeve Foley.

In addition, he leaves a long time close friend Craig O’Brien, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill graduated from Leicester High School and St. Michael’s College in Vermont.

He retired from the College of the Holy Cross where he worked as the bookstore manager for over 40 years.

While at Holy Cross, Bill was a member of NCSA (Northeast Campus Stores Association). He was a leader in the fledgling association and helped it grow into one of the strongest college store associations in the country.

Calling hours are Saturday, November 7th, from 10 a.m. to Noon at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. A prayer service will follow immediately after calling hours.
