The Auburn Fire Rescue Department was non-stop on Wednesday, within and beyond Auburn.

AFRD provided mutual aid station coverage for Worcester as the WFD responded to a three alarm apartment fire on Pleasant St. A few minutes later, about 5:15am, AFRD responded to a single car crash on Rockland Rd. with a minor injury.

Around noon, the District 7 Regional Dive Team was activated to Lake Manchaug in Douglas to assist in the search for a man who had been missing for several days. About 5:45pm, crews responded to a reported rollover on Rt. 20, near the intersection of Elm St. It was not immediately known if there were injuries involved.

At around 8pm, AFRD was out investigating the smell of natural gas in the area of the Library, which is incidentally also the area of AFRD Headquarters. As of this writing, there was no indication of gas in the library, though the odor was present outside the building. Eversource had been contacted.

Somehow, amidst all this, Tower 1 found the time to help decorate the tree in Drury Square ahead of the December 4 tree lighting ceremony.
