Valparaiso – Susan (Padgett) Manning passed away Friday, September 11th on her 72nd birthday after a many year battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Susan was born in 1943, the eldest child of Ruth (Fisher) Padgett and Donald Padgett of Auburn, Massachusetts. She graduated from Auburn High School and attended Clark University. As the Executive Director of Housing Authorities in Logansport, Indiana and Ogden, Utah she used her leadership and financial skills to improve the lives of many over her career.
Susan is survived by her brother Donald Padgett of Auburn, Massachusetts and her three daughters: Linda (Pete Wiley) Manning, Teri (Dan) Folta, and Carrie (Eric) DeLaney. She is greatly loved and will be sorely missed by her ten grandchildren: Mike, Emma, Maddie, Mackenzie, Brady, Katie, Tommy, Cooper, Toby and Owen. She was predeceased by her sister, Hope (Padgett) Addie.
Funeral services will be held at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso, Indiana on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. preceded by visitation at 12:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery next to Jerry Manning, her husband of 42 years.
