The Highland St. Foundation based in Newton, MA has been sponsoring Free Fun Fridays for seven years. Each Friday during summer, a range of area museums offer free admission. Patrons don’t typically need coupons, tickets or certificates; just show up.
Several Central Mass. museums are featured this summer, including Worcester Art Museum (6/26), Worcester Historical Museum )8/7), Fruitlands Museum (7/24), Museum of Russion Icons (7/24) and Tower Hill Botanic Garden (7/17). Each Friday typically features museums from various parts of the state. But for those willing to drive a bit, the opportunities are terrific.
The Discovery museum in Acton is on the free list, as are the Hancock Shaker Village, Boston Children’s Museum, the Springfield Museums, and much, much more.
You can see a full list of the Free Fun Fridays on the Highland St. Foundation webpage at http://www.highlandstreet.org/freefunfridays# or download the full flyer here. The page features links to each of these museums as well, providing details, directions and more.
