Dr. Lawrence Returns Home to Serve His Community
John Lawrence, MD, MS, has joined the UMass Memorial Medical Group as a family practitioner at Douglas Primary Care in East Douglas, MA. Dr. Lawrence received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMC) in 2011. He completed his family medicine residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Hartford, CT, where he served as chief resident.
“My philosophy is that the patient drives the care. In order to provide the best quality of care, it’s important to understand all of the best medical knowledge but also to really focus on the person that is there and what their needs are” said Dr. Lawrence. As a 1997 Burrillville High School graduate, Dr. Lawrence is excited to serve his local community. “I’m local — I grew up 10 miles from here, I went to UMass Medical School, so I’m very excited to be able to be here and provide care. It’s a privilege to care for my neighbors, my friends, and community residents.”
In joining the UMass Memorial Health Care affiliated Douglas Primary Care, Dr. Lawrence joins the practice site of Andrew Miller, MD, a UMMC graduate with more than 33 years of experience practicing in Douglas, “having Dr. John Lawrence join my practice was not only a dream come true but also a continuation of my mission and vision. We will continue to provide patient centric care with our excellent staff and with our affiliation with the University of Massachusetts Medical School and UMass Memorial Health Care for many years to come.”
Dr. Lawrence resides in Burrillville, RI with his wife and son, and enjoys fishing and spending time with his family.
Currently, Dr. Lawrence is only accepting adult patients, but will be accepting pediatric patients in August.
