WORCESTER – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced that two lanes of travel will be closed on I-190 northbound in Worcester in the area of Exit 1 (to Gold Star Boulevard and West Boylston Street) from 5 p.m., Saturday, August 4, to 3 p.m., Monday, August 6. Only one lane of travel will be open on I-190 northbound during this time.
This lane closure is necessary in order to allow crews and contractors to safely and effectively carry out bridge repair operations.
In addition, the I-190 northbound Exit 1 on-ramp in Worcester is currently closed, and will remain closed through Sunday, August, 19. During this on-ramp closure, traffic looking to access I-190 northbound at this location will be directed to follow detour signage and utilize Frontage Road northbound to enter I-190 northbound at Exit 2 (to Ararat Street and Greendale).
Signs and traffic control devices will be used to guide drivers through this area. MassDOT encourages drivers to reduce speed and allow for extra time through this area. All work is weather dependent and is subject to change without notice.
