The Annual Memorial Day observances organized by the Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post 279 will take place on Sunday, May 27 and Monday, May 28. The annual parade will step off from Rockland Road at 10:00am on Monday morning.

On Sunday, there will be memorial Church Service at St. Joseph’s Parish at 9:00am.

The annual parade will begin at 10:00am Monday morning from Rockland Rd., and proceed up Auburn St., through Drury

Square by Auburn Fire Rescue Headquarters, up Central St., ending at Hillside Cemetery.

The parade is followed by exercises at Hillside Cemetery. Rev. Paul Bomba will offer the invocation and benediction. The Auburn High School Band will perform America the Beautiful and This is My Country. Claudia Giffone will perform the annual reading of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and State Representative Paul Frost will offer some words. Neal Grosvenor will read In Flanders Field by John McRae, followed by the traditional placing of the poppies. Derek Baigham will perform the National Anthem. The annual Auburn Junior Woman’s Club rubber duck race will take place behind the library immediately following the parade. Buy a chance on a duck, and if it crosses the finish line first you win the prize of $500. There will be free kids’ games, face painting, and hundreds of plastic ducks racing to the finish line.
