On Thursday morning the grade 6 and 7 students at Auburn Middle School held a Memorial Day ceremony and honored United States military personnel lost to war. With the grade 8 students still in Washington, D.C., the seventh graders took control and did a terrific job showing respect for both the U.S. and her military.

Jordyn Bolduc served as hostess for the event while the AMS Band performed the Marine Corp Hymn and the Star Spangled Banner. The Select Chorus sang the National Anthem and God Bless America.

Hozaifa Awan read The Origins of Memorial Day, and Neal Grosvenor recited In Flander’s Field. Claudia Giffone read The Gettysburg Address, and Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post 279 Commander Rich Larson gave the keynote address.

Morganne Lucier played Taps and Nishil Adina played the echo.

Auburn’s Memorial Day Parade steps off at 10AM on Monday morning, and the annual Duck Race will follow.
