The Auburn High baseball team is in a familiar position – first place in the SWCL ‘A’ conference at 5-2. Auburn opened the season with a 20-3 drubbing of Uxbridge, and proceeded to blank their next two opponents, Grafton and Northbridge, by scores of 7-0 and 3-0. Their first loss was to Doherty on a walk-off single in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Auburn returned the favor at the expense of the St. Peter-Marian Guardians last Thursday. A back and forth contest, Auburn staged a rally in the bottom of the 7th, started with a Mike Breen double. Breen was sacrificed to third on a Joe Hopper bunt, and subsequently scored on a throwing error giving the Rockets a 4-3 win.
