Nomination papers for the 2018 Annual Town Election are now available in the the Town Clerk’s office. The election will be held on May 15, 2018.
Up for election this spring will be:
Library Trustees – 2 seats; three-year terms
Town Moderator – one-year term
School Committee – 2 seats – three-year terms
Board of Selectmen – 2 seats – three-year terms
Town Clerk – three-year term
Each precinct will also elect at least eight (8) representative town meeting members.
All positions require nominees to take out papers with the Town Clerk’s office indicating their intention to run for an elected office. Nominees must garner a prescribed number of signatures from registered Auburn voters and return the signatures to the Clerk. Once those signatures can be verified, the nominee will appear on the ballot in May.
The exception is with incumbent Town Meeting members, who must only provide notice to the Town Clerk that they intend to seek reelection of their seat; no additional signature gathering or nomination papers need to be completed.
Nomination papers must be returned to the Town Clerk’s office no later than March 27, 2018 at 5pm.
The Town Clerk’s office is located on the first floor at Town Hall, 104 Central St., Auburn. The phone number is (508) 832- 7701. Normal office hours are:
