James W. “Jim” Beauregard, 74 of Thompson, CT formerly of Auburn died peacefully Sunday June 18, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born in Worcester and was raised in Auburn son of the late Wilfred and Barbara (Cutting) Beauregard. He graduated from Auburn High School where he excelled in the hockey program and was given the nickname of the “Lamplighter” from his teammates. Years later Jim was recognized for his talents on the ice and was inducted into the Auburn Hockey Hall of Fame. Jim had lived in Oxford for several years before moving to Thompson twenty-four years ago.

Jim served his country proudly for two tours in Vietnam with the United States Marine Corp being honorably discharged in 1971 as a Staff Sergeant and Drill Instructor at Paris Island in South Carolina.

For many years Jim worked as an auto mechanic and a car salesman in the Auburn and Worcester Communities. When Jim was not working he made time to enjoy the outdoors, whether it was doing yard work or spending time with his friends hunting in New Hampshire. He also enjoyed “The Wonder of it All” in CT when he could.

Jim leaves his wife of 24 years, Sandra E. (Wagher) Beauregard; his children Shannon Krusas and her husband Keith and Kelly Dionne both of Oxford, John Leake Jr., of Brimfield and Francis Leake of Tempe, AZ, Lori Friedman and her husband Darren of Severville, TN and Jennifer Perry of Thompson, CT; he also leaves seventeen grandchildren, three great grandchildren; a sister Janet Standring and her husband Tom of Leicester; and his former wife and friend, Patricia Beauregard of Oxford.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jim’s family on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 10:00am until 12:00 Noon for memorial calling hours in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Military honors from the U.S. Marine Corp will be rendered at the conclusion of calling hours.
