On Saturday night, nobody really expected Auburn to outmaneuver the best team in the Quinn Conference since Shrewsbury has had a perfect 18-0 season, but the Rockets played hard anyway.

The Colonials put up 4 points in the first period and kept Auburn on the defense. In the second, the visitors added another before Kyle Spurr scored for the Rockets with an Alex Surmis assist. Two minutes later, Cameron Prosser added another goal for the home team with Spurr and Mass Borowski assisting. Any hopes of an Auburn win were dashed in the third period when Shrewsbury added two more.

The Rockets offense was hampered since senior Kory Fortier was sitting with a hand injury, and the Colonials’ goalies had 11 saves combined. Auburn used three keepers during the contest, and Cam Carpenter had 9 saves, Mike Sosik had 10, and Colin Winkelmann had 6.

They have one game left in the regular season on Thursday at 3:00PM in Horgan Arena when they face 9-9-1 Groton-Dunstable. The Rockets are now 8-7-4.
