The Athletic Directors in the Southern Worcester County League recently selected Auburn High School senior Andrea Bolduc as their Best All-Around Female Indoor Track Athlete for the 2016/2017 season. She, along with other selected athletes from leagues across Massachusetts, gathered at MIAA headquarters last Friday for a recognition breakfast. Coach Karyn Ferdella

said, “It was a fabulous experience celebrating one of our brightest Rockets.”

It is not unusual to see Andrea Bolduc leading a group of runners, but this recognition is for a students’s contributions to academics and community as well as athletics. She certainly leads in all of those areas.

Ferdella summarized the honor, “Andrea ran several different events this year: the 1 mile, 600 meter, 1,000 meter, the 4x400 meter relay and the 4x800 meter relay. She is not only a standout athletically, but she is incredibly coachable and a superb teammate and captain. Andrea also exhibits wonderful sportsmanship. It is not unusual to see her before a race talking to her opponents and wishing them well.

In the same vein, she is always the first to congratulate others on their performances afterwards. Andrea has said many times

that to her, ‘running is a gift.’ It is clear in the way that she presents herself at practices and at meets that she truly believes this with all of her heart.”

Congratulations Andrea. It has been a total pleasure to be around you!
