In an announcement that should surprise no one, Auburn Public Schools, Bay Path Regional, Worcester, and most other schools in Massachusetts will be closed for snow on Thursday, February 9.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until Thursday night. The National Weather Service forecasts 8-14″ of snow in our area, but your favorite weather prognosticator is leaning toward the lower end of those totals for our immediate area.

Nevertheless, snowfall rates wil be heavy resulting in treacherous travel during the peak of the storm, sometime mid to late morning. Roads will quickly become snow-covered and slick.

Trash collection in Auburn will also be delayed one day. Please, do NOT put your trash toters out on Thursday. They could become a hazard for plows, and there’s a pretty good chance your toter will be buried beyond recognition.

Unless absolutely necessary, do not drive. Keep the roads clear for plows and emergency crews. Seriously. Shaws is open until 11pm; go get some cocoa, popcorn, graham crackers, ice cream and load up that Netflix queue. Stay home tomorrow.
