When the AHS girls hockey team won their season opener against Leominster, 4-3, the team, coaches and fans had some high expectations. Since that game, they’ve added only one more win along with one tie and six losses. On a positive note, though, the Rockets are taking a lot of shots. Unfortunately, they’re not finding the back of the net often enough.

In Wednesday’s 2-0 loss to the Blue Devils, the Auburn girls played decently, and while Colleen Fellows had 19 saves, the Leominster keeper had 29 to add to her stats. The Rockets just need to get some of those pucks past the goalie, and then this season would look very different. Capitalizing on power plays and avoiding foolish penalties wouldn’t hurt either.
