According to a statement released by Auburn Police, officers arrested 18 year old Jerrell Sciarra of Auburn at his home based on probable cause resulting from an investigation at the Auburn High School. School Resource Officer Brian Kennedy had responded to a fight in the AHS cafeteria on December 16 involving two students. During the course of the fight, Sciarra punched and then kicked the other student until the fight was broken up by teachers.

The altercation was captured on videotape, presumably by another student who has not been identified. The video was posted on a number of social media websites, but has largely been removed from most sites.

The video allegedly shows Sciarra lunging at, tackling and punching another student. Neither the attacker nor the victim are clearly visible in the video. The audio is poor, and does not provide much additional detail nor does the video show the moments leading up to the altercation.

According to APD, Officer Kennedy later became aware that Sciarra was bragging about the assault and providing justifications for it on various social media outlets.

Sciarra was transported to Worcester District Court where he will be arraigned on charges of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Shod Foot), Assault and battery and Disturbing a School Assembly.
