After an exciting 2-0 win over Leicester on Thursday night, #7 Auburn girls soccer will face #4 Millbury in the District Final this afternoon. The game will take place at Nashoba Regional High School in Bolton starting at 1:00pm. Auburn and Millbury have a very competitive history, and many previous contests have been one-point games.

When the teams last met on October 12th, Millbury had the win by a single point, 3-2. Playoffs are different, and turf fields are far superior to the Elmwood St. cow pasture where the Woolies normally play. Both teams come into today’s final with good momentum. Millbury beat #1 Holy Name while Auburn defeated #2 Grafton and #6 Leicester.

In Thursday’s Semi-Final, Jillian MacDonald scored the first goal about 25 minutes into the first half with a high shot that escaped the Wolverines’ keeper. MacDonald kicked a corner with about ten minutes left in the match, and Colleen Cutting made a terrific header into the upper right corner of the net. Minutes later, Cutting nearly made another header, but it went wide.

Good luck today Ladies. Another trophy is in order.
