This Friday, The Auburn High School Athletic Hall of Fame will welcome its first new members since 2011. Up until this year, the management and selection process has largely been up to the Athletic Director, but that has changed due to the efforts of AHS teacher and coach Nicole Vecchio and a small team of volunteers. Retired AD Bill Garneau, in fact, asked Vecchio to organize the Hall of Fame a few years ago, and current AD Brian Davis has been working alongside Vecchio over the past year or so.

Now, there is a formal nomination and selection process that is well described in the Athletics Department section of the Auburn Public Schools web site. Members will be added every two years when Auburn plays its home Thanksgiving Day football game, and the inductees will be recognized at half time.

There will also be a formal induction ceremony on Friday at 1:00pm followed by a dinner. Both will take place at the Elks on Southbridge St. The public is invited to this event, and there is a cost of $25.00 per person. Interested people must email Vecchio today at nvecchio@auburn.k12.ma.us if they want to attend.

This year the inductees are:
Amanda Brodeur Brotherton, Class of 2004, Soccer, Basketball & Track.
Jeffrey Kozik, Class of 2005, Soccer, Basketball & Baseball.
Patricia O’Leary, Class of 1977, Field Hockey, Basketball & Softball.

Additionally, the 2005 Super Bowl Champion football team will be inducted. They were undefeated that season.
