In keeping with the spirit of gratitude and thanks that come at this time of year, WCMS will be running a winter clothing drive. On behalf of the Worcester Islamic Center, we are collecting new or gently-used coats, hats, gloves, mittens, and blankets for the 150 refugee families from Iraq and Syria recently settled in Worcester. Please bring your donated items with you to the concert. Sizes needed are from infant through adult.
Hailed as a group with imagination, style and chops, the Worcester Chamber Music Society took the Worcester, Massachusetts scene by storm with its initial concert in 2006. It has become a recognized cultural presence within the Greater Worcester area by presenting sold-out concerts to captivated audiences, receiving consistent critical acclaim, building new young audiences, and training rising musicians through both its Neighborhood Strings and Summer Music Camp programs. WCMS brings world-class chamber music to intimate, beautiful, and uniquely New England venues. WCMS nurtures the community through a unique combination of affordable concerts, education and community engagement.
Facets and Reflections features music by Schulhoff, Sedgwick, Dvořák, and Porter. Dvořák’s stirring Bass Quintet, Sedgwick’s visionary String Quartet and a few beloved Cole Porter songs are offset by the riches of Schulhoff’s Trio for Flute, Viola, and Bass. We proudly herald the musical inspirations that come from and flow through our beloved communities.
These concerts are funded in part by a grant from the Grafton Cultural Council, a local agency funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
