Every team would love to win their home opener, but sometimes it doesn’t quite work out. Such was the case last Thursday when the middle school football team lost to Millbury, 34-22.

Coach AJ Caswell, in his first year at Auburn Middle, knows there is work to be done but admitted it is hard to work on individual improvements when you are the only coach. He also told Auburn Mass Daily that a middle school program serves as a great recruiting tool for the high school and it looks like the youth football program in town is doing a great job.

Quarterback Jacques Durocher and running back Eric Paine each had rushing touchdowns, and Paine had one for 70 yards in the fourth quarter. This was the first of eight games this season.
