Peter J. Dumas, 68, of Ashland died Sunday, July 10, 2016 in Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after an illness.
Peter was born in Worcester son of the late Joseph and Helen M. (Fitzgerald) Dumas. He graduated from Saint John’s High School and later from Worcester Junior College and Clark University with a degree in Business Administration.
He had worked for over forty five years in the Insurance Industry starting his career in Worcester with Travelers Insurance Company. He later had worked for John Hancock Insurance Company and Commercial Union Insurance Company holding various positions. He finished his long career from Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association (The Fair Plan) where he was an underwriter for fifteen years and retired as a Liability Claims Manager.
Peter proudly served in the Unites States Army during the Vietnam. He then served with the 181st Infantry Division of the Army National Guard in Worcester for many years.
He leaves two cousins, Philip E. Dumas of Auburn and Gregory L. Dumas of Maine and their families and many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Peter’s family on Thursday July 14, 2016 from 9:00-10:30 am in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am in Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street North, Auburn. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
