into the woodsThe Auburn Community Players Youth Summer Theater Program will stage four performances of ‘Into the Woods, Jr.’ Friday at Saturday at Pakachoag Church, 203 Pakachoag St., Auburn.

Performances will be held:
Friday at 7pm
Saturday at 1pm, 4pm and 7pm

Tickets are $5 and are available for all performances.

According to director, Kelly Bailey, the show has been double cast due to the tremendous interest in the Youth Summer Theater program. “We had over 40 kids, and only 20 or so roles. So we double cast the show so everyone has the chance to star in the performances.”

The cast has been divided into a Friday 7pm and Saturday 1pm cast, and a Saturday 4pm and 7pm cast. When cast members are not performing their starring roles, they will serve as ensemble members. A full cast list for each performance, and a link to purchase tickets can be found on the ACP Website

Be careful what you wish for as Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical.  Into the Woods JR. features all of your favorite characters – Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.

The musical centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse and wind up changed forever.
