Paul J. Blais, 93, was born in Auburn, Mass. the son of Arthur and Cordelia (Parenteau ) Blais was pre-deceased by his wife Phyllis, his brother Arthur who was killed in WWII, his brother Hector, and his sisters Eleanor McKinstry, Loraine Bedard and Rita Stuka. He’s survived by his son Bruce P. Blais, daughter Beverly A. Chaffee (husband Paul), grandchildren Brian Chaffee (wife Julie) and Carrie Greeley (husband Scott), great grandchildren Deven Chaffee, Summer Chaffee and Cole Greeley and several nephews and nieces.

Paul graduated from Auburn High School in 1942 and entered the Army Air Core in December of 1942. He received his pilot wings in 1944 and served as a pilot with the 64th Troop Carrier Squadron in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines and New Guinea. He was awarded the Pacific Theater, WWII Victory, and Philippine Liberation Medals and received a Presidential Unit Citation. He was married to Phyllis M. Keyes from 1947 until her death in 1999. He was employed by U.S. Envelope Company and then by Worcester Envelope Company before retiring at age 65.

Paul was a former Auburn Town Meeting member from Precinct 2, a member of the VFW Post 6907, the American Legion Post 279, a life member of the Auburn Elks Club and the 64th Troup Carrier Association, and a member of the Auburn Historical Society and the Greendale Retired Men’s Club.

He enjoyed skiing and skating until the age of 85. He also loved ballroom dancing and enjoyed teaching others how to dance as well.

Calling hours will be on Monday June 20, 2016 from 4-7 pm at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral will be on Tuesday with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10:00 am at Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford St, North, Auburn. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery Auburn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford St North, Auburn or the Auburn Historical Society, 41 South Street, Auburn, MA 01501.
