Dear Community Partners,
Over April vacation, the SWISH (Swanson Road Intermediate School High Scorers) Robotics Team participated in The VEX World Robotics Championships in Louisville, Kentucky. The scene was an epic gathering of 5th grade through college level students representing 31 different countries from around the world.
All of the participants had won their regional and local robotics tournaments respectively, and had earned the invitation to compete in the world games. The whole tournament was fashioned after the Olympic Games, including opening ceremonies, parade of nations, an unveiling of the next generation game, inductions to the STEM Hall of Fame, a crowning of winning teams, and the closing ceremonies.
Our very own, Team SWISH, (Quinn Cahill, Isabella Doyle, Anthony Lloyd, & Trevor Smith), their coach, Christine Lloyd, and all of their families put forth a sensational performance and finished 69th (in the world) in the elementary division. Team SWISH competed with teams from California, West Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, and China just to name a few.
Team SWISH communicated with teams that spoke little to no English and had to strategize how their robot (machine) was going to score the most points in one minute tournament matches. Our students not only finished 69th in their division, but represented Swanson Road, the Auburn community, their families, and themselves with the utmost integrity and professionalism that would make our whole town extremely proud.
With our sincerest gratitude, and respect, and on behalf of The Swanson Road Intermediate School, The Auburn Public School System, The Team SWISH Robotics Team, Christine Lloyd (coach), and all of the families of Team SWISH, we would like to extend a profound THANK YOU for your contributions to help our Robotics Team and their families make the trip to The VEX World Robotics Championships held in Louisville, KY.
Through your generous contributions, by continuing to build on key community partnerships, and solidify relationships with our community members, Swanson Road Intermediate School and our students continue to participate in World Class opportunities, as they engage with state of the art Technologies, and give our whole community something to be sincerely proud of. We Thank You again, for your help and participation in making this amazing opportunity possible for our students, and their families.
