New England Eye Mobile Van, On-site eye exams and low vision evaluations – Friday, June 10th by appointment
On-site eye exams and low vision evaluations by eye doctors who specialize in the care of older adults. The Eye Van can assist people in obtaining the appropriate eyeglasses prescriptions or complete an assessment of low vision device and recommendation to meet each person’s unique capabilities and goals. We also provide referral to rehabilitation services, follow up eye care services, and referral to social service agencies such as the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind. Consumer University; How to Avoid skimmers at the gas pump and ATM’s – Monday, June 27th at 10:00am Robin Putnam, Research and Special Projects Manager from the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, will present Consumer University with a focus on spotting & avoiding skimmers at the gas pump and ATMs. The presentation will include information about the Office what we do. Aging Mastery Program
The Aging Mastery Program® core curriculum combines evidence-informed knowledge sharing with goal-setting and feedback routines, daily practices, peer support, and small rewards. Classes are led by expert speakers who help participants gain the skills and tools they need to manage their health, remain economically secure, and contribute actively in society. The goal of the 10 core classes is to provide participants with an overview of the challenges encountered while navigating life in old age and offer support to master new skills.

The Auburn Senior Center will be offering the full aging mastery program in the fall of 2016, starting Thursday, September 15th at 9:45am for 10 weeks. We will also be offering two elective sections of the Aging Mastery Program this June. The electives are designed for those 50+ and are a good introduction to the program if you would like to try it out. We are thankful to the Massachusetts Council on Aging, and the state service incentive grant for providing funding for these programs.
Intergenerational Connections – Aging Mastery Elective – Wednesday, June 8th at 1:00pm
The session will help you understand the benefits of intergenerational connections for older adults and youth and teach you how to strengthen intergenerational interactions and relationships within the family. Our speaker will be Andrea Weaver, the Founder and Executive Director of Bridges Together.
