Lionel Berthiaume recently announced his intention to run for the Board of Selectmen. With the tax filing deadline today, he can finally devote some time to his campaign, and a kickoff will be held next Tuesday from 5-7pm at Hilligans on Southbridge St.
Berthiaume told Auburn Mass Daily, “I have lived here all my life… 53 years! I love my town! I have always tried to be an active member of this community, and I feel with my life and business experience that I would be a good addition to the Select Board. I was a Call Firefighter here in town for over 8 years, and I serve or have served on the Advisory board for Auburn Youth and Family Services and on the Board of Directors and many subcommittees for the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. I was elected to and served 6 years as the Auburn Representative for the Bay Path School Committee and it’s subcommittees.”
“I have coached youth through High School sports including softball, football, and basketball. Growing up, I played youth basketball and baseball here in town. I played football and hockey for Auburn High School and graduated in 1981.”
“I attended Plymouth State College briefly but came back to work in the family business where I successfully ran a computer and software company here in town serving over 1800 small businesses all over the New England states. I also have been doing accounting, taxes, and business consulting for personal and small businesses for over 30 years!”
“Being a resident and business owner here in town, I feel I can provide a life experience and common sense approach to the issues that are brought before the board. I understand the role of the Select Board to provide guidance and support to our town manager and her staff.”
“I do not have an agenda and am running strictly to add my strengths and suggestions to continue this town on it’s positive growth path! I would like to help with the challenge of improving the business climate here in town and combine that with filling the residents’ needs!”
