Last night’s 49-19 loss to Wayland in the first round of the Central Mass D2 Tournament was not the way the Rockets expected to end their season. Going in, Auburn was ranked 10th with a 12-8 record while Wayland was 7th at 14-6. The Rockets came in with a lot of heart but not a lot of height.

Leading the Warriors was 5’11” senior Bronwyn Davies who scored 24 points. Her shooting is spectacular and she will be attending Yale in the fall on a full scholarship. Combined with a very aggressive defense and poor officiating, Wayland took control of this contest early on.

The Rockets were down 13-5 after one quarter and 27-11 at the break. The slide continued in the third which ended 41-14, and the 30-point spread at the end was an unusual loss for the Auburn girls. Senior Emily Sarkisian led Auburn with 12 points.

This has been a fun season, and we will be pulling together a final slide show for the end of the week.
