In a perfect world, Senior Nights would always come with a win for the celebrating team. That was the case last Tuesday when Auburn girls basketball defeated Leicester, 56-32. The JV players hit the court earlier and trapped the Wolverines, 41-16.

The Leicester JV players didn’t bring much to Auburn, which was obvious with the home team up 20-0 at the half. The Rockets eased up a bit in the second half, but a final score of 41-16 was still impressive. Many of these girls will easily transition to varsity next winter.

The varsity Wolverines often nipped at the Rockets in the paint, which put Auburn in the bonus in the first half and gave them 5 points off free throws. The first quarter ended with Auburn up, 13-9, and the half finished 35-18. The third ended 43-24, and the final was 56-32.

The seniors recognized were Jessica Clifford, Brianna Courteau, Sarah Fahey, Hanna Harris, Shannon Hynes, Samantha Kowalchek, Abigail Lucas, and Emily Sarkisian.

Colleen Cutting led the Rockets with 15 points including two 3’s, and Sarkisian followed with 12. Kileigh Hynes had points while Jess Clifford scored 7.

The last regular season game will be on Monday when the Rockets face Notre Dame.
