She is survived by her husband of 42 years, John E. DiPasquale; two children, Amy Faber and her husband, Jason of Auburn, Jay DiPasquale and his wife, Katia of Everett, Washington; her brother, James McCutcheon and his wife, Maryann of Westfield, Massachusetts and three grandchildren Isabella Faber, Samuel Faber and Giovanni DiPasquale. She was predeceased by her parents John H. and E. Irene McCutcheon.
Shirley graduated from Framingham State College and received a Master’s in mathematics from WPI. She taught mathematics at Auburn High School for 39 years. While at Auburn High she wore many hats, mathematic department Chairperson, cross country coach, class advisor and National Honor Society Advisor. For many years Shirley also provided graphing calculator instruction to teachers in Massachusetts for Texas Instruments. Shirley received the Harvard Book Club Award for Outstanding Teacher in Massachusetts.
After retiring from Auburn High School as a teacher she rejoined the system as a Math Coach providing teachers with assistance in their classrooms and curriculum direction. During her professional career she had a great impact on thousands of Auburn students.
Once spring arrived you could always find Shirley on the golf course with family and friends. Usually she would win the round. Her family and friends will miss the way she took care of them with gentle love and great compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Shirley’s family on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A prayer service honoring her life will be on Wednesday February 24, 2016 at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.
